Longtime Cheyenne Stables star Mystical Star has been retired from racing, and will be bred this year to international sire sensation Lonhro (Aus).

A newly-turned six-year-old by Hall of Fame Champion Ghostzapper, Mystical Star was a standout every year she raced, earning nearly $600,000, while winning the Grade 2 New York Stakes at Belmont, and breaking the course record in the $153,000 Kentucky Downs Ladies Marathon. Mystical Star also placed in six other stakes, including the $600,000 Flower Bowl Invitational (G1) and $500,000 Juddmonte Spinster S. (G1), and heads to the breeding shed as one of the top five female runners of all time by Hall of Fame Champion Ghostzapper.

Australian-bred Lonhro is both a racetrack Champion and a Champion Sire. From eight crops to race, he has already sired 42 stakes winners and earners of more than $45-million. Standing at Sheikh Mohammed's Darley, he has been hugely popular since coming to Kentucky in 2012, breeding over 100 mares each season.
