Cheyenne Stables' Mystical Star sailed to her first career stakes victory in the Grade 2, $200,000 New York S. June 30 at Belmont Park.

Mystical Star, a Ghostzapper filly trained by Christophe Clement, moved up to take over from longshot The Underling down the backstretch under Jose Lezcano, then repelled a stretch bid from Aruna to score by a length, with Hit It Rich another half-length behind in third.

“She broke well, and we told the jock to put her wherever she was comfortable,” Clement said. “She’s obviously a top-class filly.”

Mystical Star ran the 1 1/4 miles in 2:00.17 on a firm inner turf course.

Mystical Star is a 4-year-old bred in Kentucky by W. G. Lyster III and Green Lantern Stables out of the Capote mare Capture a Star. With the New York victory, she improved her career record to four wins and a second from eight starts with earnings of $247,632.
